Taste Ontario - Back in Glass

Nothing rings in a frigid February quite like the LCBO's Taste Ontario! event, held in the glass Atrium of the National Art Gallery, February 11.  100+ poured, 32 passionate Ontario producers...sounds like an awesome Friday night?  Right?

Of course! But..it's on a Monday.  No matter, this prevents most of the bar stars from using an event like this as the pre-drink hotspot before a night out.

The LCBO's social responsibility edict often means that a ton of food is served to help mop up the wine consumed by the thirsty event-goers.  $65 will get you fed and wined all you want.

For the more avid wine drinkers, this is a chance to engage some of Ontario's most talented winemakers, many of whom will be pouring your samples.

Recommended Producers: Norman Hardie, Featherstone, Stratus, The Foreign Affair, Closson Chase.

  1. I'm so sad that I will be missing this event.

I completely agree with all of your recommended wineries. Here is a list of wines that I have tried and loved:

    - Creekside Broken Press Syrah 2008,
    - Featherstone Black Sheep Riesling 2011,
    - Fielding Estate Riesling 2011 (only $15.95!),
    - ANYTHING from Hidden Bench,
    - Huff Estates Cuvee Peter F. Huff Sparkling 2001,
    - Malivoire Moira Chardonnay 2009,
    - Norman Hardie County Unfiltered Pinot Noir 2011,

Also, try to ask Creekside if they have a bottle of their Reserve Sauvignon Blanc hidden away behind the table. This wine is absolutely phenomenal.
