VINTAGES 701748 | 750 mL bottle

Made in: California, USA
By: Chateau Montelena

Tasting Note
Montelena's 2010 Chardonnay is gorgeous. Lemon and white flowers are some of the nuances that take shape in the glass. Even with the blocked malo and low amount of new oak, the 2010 has an attractive oiliness that adds body and depth but without excess weight. This is a lovely showing. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2020. Score - 92. (Antonio Galloni, erobertparker.com, Dec. 2012)

BABICH GIMBLETT GRAVELS GEWÜRZTRAMINER 2011   $16.95
VINTAGES 309617 | 750 mL bottle

Made in: Hawkes Bay, New Zealand
By: Babich Wines

Tasting Note
Fruit from the 'Gimblett Gravels' vineyard fully barrel-fermented in seasoned oak to 14.0% alc. and 5.5 g/L rs. Bright, even straw-yellow colour with light golden hues, pale on rim. This has an elegantly proportioned, intense and finely presented bouquet of musk, ginger and rose petals along with nuances of smoke and flint adding layers of interest. Dry, tightly concentrated and densely packed with flavours of musk, root ginger and Turkish Delight, this is softly textured and carries a subtle richness, with discreet acidity providing good tension. The palate possesses an underlying power and a little alcoholic generosity, driving the fruit, leading to a long, nuanced finish. This is a concentrated and refined Gewurztraminer to serve with Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 3-4+ years. Score - 5 Stars (out of 5). (Raymond Chan, raymondchanwinereviews.co.nz, Jan. 26, 2012)

DOMAINE CHENEVIÈRES LES GRANDES VIGNES CHABLIS 2011   $22.95
VINTAGES 278952 | 750 mL bottle

Made in: Burgundy, France
By: Scev Domaine Des Chenevieres

Tasting Note
The weight and density of this old-vine parcel in La Chappelle comes though in Brocard's 2011 Chablis Vieilles Vignes. Layers of expressive yellow stone fruit build to the rich, creamy finish as this muscular, enveloping wine shows off its distinctive personality. Anticipated maturity: 2012+. Score - 90-92. (Antonio Galloni, erobertparker.com, Aug. 2012)

CLOS LE VIGNEAU VOUVRAY 2011   $18.95
VINTAGES 318840 | 750 mL bottle

Made in: Loire, France
By: Alexandre Monmousseau, Château Gaudrelle

Tasting Note
The 2011 Clos Le Vigneau, from a more challenging vintage, is just as good. Aromatics of spring flowers, poached pears, honeyed melon and some buttered citrus jump from the glass of this medium-bodied, very pure, fresh and nicely concentrated wine, which is the epitome of a dry Chenin Blanc meant to go with a cornucopia of cuisines. Score - 91. (Robert Parker Jr., erobertparker.com, June 2012)

The 2009 Pinot Noir De Villiers Vineyard, from vines planted in 1997, bursts from the glass with expressive, juicy fruit. Dark red berries, flowers, mint, spices and an orange rind follow, leading to a generous, inviting finish. The De Villiers is the only vineyard-designate Pinot made from fully de-stemmed fruit. MENGUANTE SELECCIÓN GARNACHA 2007   $16.95
VINTAGES 313833 | 750 mL bottle

Tasting Note
The 2007 Menguante Garnacha Seleccion was sourced from the same vineyards but spent 10 months in new French oak. Opaque purple in color, it proffers a brooding bouquet on sandalwood, incense, espresso, lavender, black cherry, and blackberry. Considerably more structure than the regular bottling, with greater density and incipient complexity, it will benefit from 2-3 years of additional bottle age and provide pleasure through 2022. Score - 91. (Jay Miller, erobertparker.com, April 2010)

DALVA COLHEITA PORT 1997   $27.95
VINTAGES 169045 | 750 mL bottle

Made in: Douro, Portugal
By: C. Da Silva (Vinhos) Sarl

Tasting Note
Colheita Ports are from a single harvest, much like Vintage Ports, but there's a big difference between the two. While Vintage Ports must spend between two and three years in wood, Colheita Ports see the inside of a barrel for a minimum of seven years, and many, like this Dalva, are matured much longer. As a result, they are ready to drink upon release and require no decanting. Enjoy this sweet, ripe, round and intense Port after a meal with blue cheese or the nut bowl. Toffee, hazelnuts and dried figs with that chalky back of the throat dryness. Love colheitas, my favourite style of port. Special Designation: Best Value Dessert Wine. Score - 94.
