BUBBLY

HINTERLAND WHITECAP 2012   $22.00
VINTAGES 332809 | 750 mL bottle

Made in: Ontario, Canada

Tasting Note
Very pretty nose of fresh honey, field flowers, apple, peach and botanicals. It's bright and frothy on the palate with nice fruit replays, a subtle leesy note and a crisp finish. Pair with veggie appetizers or breaded lake fish. (VINTAGES panel, Feb. 2013)

WHITE

DOG POINT VINEYARD SAUVIGNON BLANC 2012   $22.95
VINTAGES 677450 | 750 mL bottle

Made in: Marlborough, New Zealand

Tasting Note
If you buy no other 2012 New Zealand sauvignon currently on the shelves, don't miss Dog Point. There's a consummately crafted dimension to this wine that propels it above the vast sea of sauvignon, a wine of genuine character and interest. A one-fifth portion of wild ferment and lees ageing instils a mineral mouth feel and complexing nuances of struck flint. Carefully regulated yields have produced an impeccably gauged fruit profile that tactically dodges the extremes of underripe herbaceousness and overripe passionfruit, falling neatly into the middle ground of grapefruit, lemon zest, guava and golden delicious apple. A focused acid line and outstanding, lingering, textural persistence make not only for immediate appeal but promise medium-term potential. Drink 2012-2019. Score - 95. (Tyson Stelzer, tysonstelzer.com, Undated)

MAYCAS DEL LIMARÍ RESERVA ESPECIAL CHARDONNAY 2009   $19.95
VINTAGES 162040 | 750 mL bottle

Made in: Limari Valley, Chile

Tasting Note
The 2009 Chardonnay Reserva Especial spent 12 months in 38% new French oak in which malolactic fermentation was blocked. It reveals a light touch of oak, spiced apple, poached pear, and stony minerals. Medium-bodied but with greater density than the Reserva cuvee, it exhibits a vibrant, Chablis-like personality, excellent balance, and a lengthy, refreshing finish. It will provide enjoyment over the next 4-5 years. Score - 90. (Jay Miller, erobertparker.com, Feb. 2012)

RUSTENBERG CHARDONNAY 2011   $22.95
VINTAGES 598631 | 750 mL bottle

Made in: Stellenbosch, South Africa

Tasting Note
Matured in 40% new and 60% second-fill 300-liter Burgundian oak barrels for 12 months, the 2011 Chardonnay has a competent bouquet of citrus lemon and a touch of tangerine, although it is laconic and conservative, refusing to put its head above the parapet. The palate is crisp on the entry with subtle orange peel and passion fruit notes that build nicely in the mouth, leading to a poised, vivacious finish. This is a delicious Chardonnay - but I sense it could give more with bottle age. Drink now-2017. Score - 90. (Neal Martin, erobertparker.com, Dec. 2012)

SANTI VIGNETI DI MONTEFORTE SOAVE CLASSICO 2011   $14.95

EASTON ZINFANDEL 2010   $22.95
VINTAGES 328377 | 750 mL bottle

Made in: California, USA

Tasting Note
An excellent Zin - this has an invitingly soft floral nose, mountainous black-fruit flavors and structure and plenty of depth. This should age nicely over the next 3-5 years, but it is delicious to drink now, too. Score - 91. (Virginie Boone, Wine Enthusiast, July 2012)

CHÂTEAU DU SEUIL 2009   $24.95
VINTAGES 326785 | 750 mL bottle

VINTAGES 277079 | 750 mL bottle

Made in: Midi, France

Tasting Note
The brilliant 2011 Le Cirque Vin de Pays ... is a sensational value.
Its dense ruby/purple color is followed by abundant aromas of blueberries, cassis, garrigue and pepper as well as a meaty character. This powerful ... unoaked, mouth-saturating, dry red should drink well for several years. Score - 91. (Robert Parker Jr., erobertparker.com, Aug. 2012)

VINTAGES 320192 | 750 mL bottle

Tasting Note
This mouthfilling red displays unctuous plum and boysenberry fruit flavors that course along nicely, thanks to lively spice and toasted anise notes, with a strong graphite steak. Fleshy, but excellent acidity is well-embedded on the finish. Drink now through 2015. Score - 90. (James Molesworth, winespectator.com, Sept. 30, 2012)

DOMAINE DE LA TÊTE NOIRE TRADITION VACQUEYRAS 2010 $25.95

A blend of Nero d'Avola, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2008 vintage of Noà shows excellent concentration and intensity with lingering tones of ripe blackberry, cinnamon, wet earth and Graham cracker. It's a bold red wine, but the distinctive Nero d'Avola personality comes through nicely, linking the wine to its territory. Score - 92. (Monica Larner, Wine Enthusiast, April 2012)
